Mini Vinnies & Faith Leaders
I will always welcome joyfully any opportunity that comes my way to be of service to you.
- Vincent de Paul
Our Mini Vinnies are a group of children who get together to help those in need within their school and local community. Mini Vinnies introduces children to social justice issues and to living faith through action as part of the St Vincent de Paul Society.
Meet our Mini Vinnies
Our Mini Vinnies meet regularly with Mrs Greenwood to plan out ideas to put faith into action across school.
Our Mini Vinnies lead whole school worships and lead on fund raising and care for our local community. Every year, they host Afternoon Tea for our Parish Snowdrops Group (Disabled) and elderly Parishioners. The Mini Vinnies serve tea, coffee and cakes and interact with our visitors.
During Advent, the Mini Vinnies create Christmas cards and ask children in school for donations of biscuits to deliver to care homes in our local area.
Over the past 18 months, the Mini Vinnie's have been leading on the CAFOD Live Simply Award, putting our faith into action.
Last year, they organised the Big Lent Walk and our school raised £500 for CAFOD! This year, they continue their work of fundraising for the Good Shepherd Appeal and collecting donations of food for the Friars at St Patrick's.
Thank you for your generous donations of biscuits and other sweet treats! We visited eight local care homes and they were all very grateful.
We raised £100 when we held a 'Soak the Mini Vinnie' fundraising event! It was very cold, but worth it!
Meet our Faith Leaders
Our Faith Leaders apply for their position by writing a letter to Mrs Ramsden detailing why they would make an excellent faith leader in our school. These children are from Year 5 and Year 6 and they meet regularly to pray and plan activities to support the other children in their faith development. They support teachers and leaders in delivering whole school worship and prepare prayers at different times of the year. They prepare our home prayer resources and also work alongside the Mini Vinnies in planning fundraising activities. They do such wonderful work and are role models to all.
